| Bio: | Greetings, citizen! Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Great Beyond, a practitioner of the mystic and arcane arts in the beautiful metropolis of Paragon City. Yes, that's right - I am a superhero. See, I once thought being a Superhero was kind of silly too. My father has always been a practical, if not slightly flight man - he had always poo-pooed the idea of putting your life on the line day after day. No - he had the good sense to be a stage magician in Las Vegas. He made a lot of children very happy and eventually died a very poor man. It was when I was going through his effects when I discovered a whole new side to him. In the late 1930's, my mild mannered father was the superhero known as The Great Beyond. He served with The Midnight Fate corps in Europe and Africa, battling against the Nazis. Hitler, it seemed was obsessed with the occult - and his agents kept my father and his teammates very busy. For years after the war, my father served the hero community with distinction. One strange thing, however. His notes never said why he abandoned his crusade against evil - a mystery that may never be answered. Although I was awed by the hidden side of my father, I didn’t rise up and follow in his footsteps. I did however began reading his journals and arcane tones, experimenting with the artifacts and talismans he had collected over the years. As a great man once said - with great power comes great responsibility. I unfortunately was anything but responsible. In fact, the first major journey into the unknown was one step short of a disaster. My first experiment summoned . . . something from the other side. I later learned that it was a spirit of the angry earth, but at the time it almost killed me before fleeing. Yes, it's still out there - to my great shame. Why it didn’t kill me - and lord knows it had plenty of opportunity - I'm not quite sure. I do have a theory, tho. I think it sees me, in some kind of bizarre way as a mother - or at least as the one that gave it live and form. Perhaps it needs to help raise it's army to sweep the human plague from the planet. Who knows. Since then, I've been trying to put the toy back in its box. I've been unsuccessful so far - one day perhaps. But it did open my eyes - that I need to help out where I can, however I can. More than just defeating The Angry Earth, I have a calling, a destiny that I must answer. And so - the Great Beyond lives again. | |||||||
